According to Sud-Ouest, FIFA has decided to lift Girondins de Bordeaux’s transfer ban, allowing the club to recruit beyond France again.

The sanction, covering the next three windows, had been imposed over the unpaid 1.5 million euros owed to Sporting Gijón from Pedro Diaz’s August 2023 move.

Bordeaux lodged two appeals, including one with the TAS, seeking to overturn the measure. They have now succeeded.

Two weeks ago, the FFF chose not to extend the ban domestically and granted the National 2 side permission to sign within France.

Today’s decision removes the FIFA penalty issued on 27 March.

Through lawyer Matthieu Barandas, the club argued that a continuation plan approved by the commercial court in June 2025, writing off 90% of the debt and spreading repayments over 10 years, prevented the club from settling the sum demanded by Sporting Gijón.
