Recently dismissed by Flamengo after an 8-0 win over Madureira, Filipe Luís is pushing to continue his coaching career in Europe, working against the clock to secure the required licences.
According to ESPN Brasil, his agent Jorge Mendes is leading efforts to open doors in the Premier League, seeking an opportunity despite the domestic game’s strict rules.
The biggest hurdle is the UEFA Pro Licence, which is compulsory even to manage in England’s second tier. Without it, any appointment is currently unworkable.
Filipe Luís and Mendes are racing to resolve the issue, with the former Flamengo coach’s camp pursuing legal and administrative solutions with the CBF to fast-track and validate the documentation.
Chelsea are studying him as a candidate to replace Liam Rosenior, who was recently dismissed by the English club. While other names remain on their list, his past experience at Chelsea counts in his favour.
Benfica are also monitoring the situation. The Portuguese side could lose José Mourinho soon, as he is a target for Real Madrid, is in talks and is expected to resign.
Flamengo, now under Leonardo Jardim, turn to their next assignment against Independiente Medellín at 21:30 Brasília time on Thursday in the fourth round of the Copa Libertadores.
