Despite having nine months left on his contract plus the option of a further 12 months, Casemiro is planning to leave Manchester United next summer.

A report from Brazilian outlet Trivela claims the midfielder has now made a ‘final decision’ on his future after several months of deliberation.

Casemiro to leave United in June 2026

He intends to see out the remainder of his deal until June 2026 before pulling the curtains on his Old Trafford tenure after four years, having signed under Erik ten Hag for a £70 million fee back in August 2022.

Casemiro is keen to embark on a new venture as he approaches the latter stages of his career, and will do so regardless of United’s desire to keep hold of him.

When Ruben Amorim took the reins last November, Casemiro dropped down the pecking order; he has been an unused substitute for 17 games in total under the new head coach.

Amorim has called upon Casemiro’s experience in recent months

However, he has been utilised considerably more since the closing stages of last season, starting six of United’s last seven Premier League matches.

He, like the rest of the squad, has struggled to replicate his best form in Amorim’s newly implemented system, which has still yet to prove successful or assure supporters that it will prosper long-term.

Nonetheless, Casemiro can begin negotiating a pre-contract with foreign clubs in January.

It remains to be seen where he’ll look to ply his trade next after such an illustrious European career. The 33-year-old has frequently been linked with a switch to the Saudi Pro League in a move that may see him reunite with former Real Madrid and United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
