Thomas Muller will depart Bayern Munich after 25 years in the summer, as his contract will not be renewed, and Fiorentina will be one of the teams in the running to sign him. They’ll compete with the MLS, Turkish, and English clubs, Bild informs (via Calciomercato).
In particular, the Los Angeles FC could become the frontrunner because of a partnership with the Bavarians. The veteran, who has lifted over 30 trophies throughout his storied career, has tallied 6 goals and 6 assists in 39 appearances this campaign.
Fiorentina will attempt to add Muller to their collection of former Bayern Munich stars. Mario Gomez and Franck Ribery spent time with them at the twilight of their careers. The German talisman is expected to decide in June before the start of the Club World Cup.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Viola president Rocco Commisso asked the players’ agent for information. It was an opening inquiry to assess his availability and the possible economic parameters. There’s no ongoing negotiation for now. Per Capology, he has been making €15M gross annually after his last renewal in 2023.
He still has something left in the tank, and, technically speaking, they could use another striker. A full-fledged center-forward so they can manage Moise Kean would be ideal, but they’d also get by with somebody with his traits. It remains to be seen whether he wants to continue in a top-five league, and with a much smaller salary, or if he prefers heading to less competitive ones for a final lofty pay day.
