First summer signing reports for training at Real Madrid | OneFootball

It has already been more than two weeks since Jose Mourinho started training the Real Madrid team in his second stint at the Merengue club. The new coach started with only a handful of first-team players, but some of them have joined up with him in the last week.

The Portuguese coach started the third week of training on Monday, and as Diario AS has reported, the main highlight of the day was the arrival of the first of the new signings that Los Blancos have made this summer, i.e., the fullback Denzel Dumfries.

After arriving at Valdebebas, the Dutchman undertook a tour of the facilities, met his new teammates, also met his new coach, and then completed his first training session as a Real Madrid player.

In this session, one of the players he worked with was the English fullback Trent Alexander-Arnold, with whom he is going to compete for a starting spot at the right-back position. The Englishman is going to be the starter, and has already been training with Mourinho for the last two weeks, but Dumfries’ addition will provide a different player profile to the Merengue coach, and also enhance the competition for the right-back position.

Although he will not yet be ready to participate in the training match against Leganes on Tuesday, he is expected to make his debut in the white shirt in the upcoming friendly against Fiorentina in Klagenfurt on Saturday.

As far as Denzel Dumfries’ official presentation is concerned, there is no news from the club on whether such an event will be held. Such a presentation has not been held for Jose Mourinho either, as Real Madrid appear to be fully focused on ensuring they return to winning ways next season, and preparing for this challenge this summer.
