Leicester City could wrap up further business this week as Russell Martin continues to reshape his squad before this weekend’s Carabao Cup tie with Northampton Town. He has said the group will look different by the time the Cobblers visit LE2.
City have already made five summer additions, with Liam Cullen arriving from Swansea for an undisclosed fee and 19-year-old Tommy Watson joining on loan from Brighton. According to Ekipa, a move for striker Bristrić could cost around €1.7m to €2m.
Bristrić, 23, is wanted and is due in England for a medical this week after missing Olimpija Ljubljana’s 1-0 win over Aluminij. He scored 13 goals on loan at NK Bravo last season. If progress continues, a deal could be done in time for the cup tie.
At centre-back, Rangers’ John Souttar has been linked and was left out of their league opener at Dundee United. He has been training and a move for regular football is possible.
Harry Souttar’s future could shape that search. He captained Leicester in a behind-closed-doors 1-0 loss to Coventry City amid Sheffield United interest, and Chris Wilder wants him back, though Martin has played down talk of an imminent move.
Up front, Leyton Orient’s Ballard remains on the radar and, despite Championship interest, is still at Brisbane Road. He missed Sunday’s 2-1 win over Royal Antwerp after an injury in the warm-up and is valued at around £5m after 23 League One goals last term.
A wildcard is Swansea attacking midfielder Ollie Cooper, with Vitor Matos confirming he is set to leave on loan. The Derby-born 26-year-old played 44 times for Martin in 2022/23.
