Five free agents Walsall could consider as summer rebuild continues | OneFootball

Walsall’s rebuild remains unfinished after 14 departures and five arrivals, and these five free agents could offer solutions. According to ExpressAndStar.com, Lee Grant said this week the club still have plenty to do in the summer window.

Goalkeeper Myles Roberts, last season’s loanee, kept 13 clean sheets in 46 games in all competitions and has been released by Watford. With Jenson Kilroy the only senior keeper after Sam Hornby joined non-league neighbours Hednesford Town, he could appeal.

Tom Bradshaw, a fans’ favourite from 2014 to 2016, scored 40 goals across two seasons before moves to Barnsley and Millwall. He returned to Barnsley on loan from Oxford United in the second half of last season under new Walsall assistant Richard Keogh, scoring three, and has since been released by Oxford. A return would be a gamble, though some would hope he could rediscover his scoring touch at Bescot.

Midfielder Evan Khouri turned down a new deal at Grimsby Town and is a free agent after four goals and two assists in 42 appearances last term. Walsall have already added Lewis Simper, Sven Sprangler and loanee Isaac Moore in midfield, so that area may not be a priority.

Defender Will Wright left Swindon Town this summer after two seasons. The 29-year-old helped Crawley Town win promotion to League One via the 2024 play-offs, was Swindon’s player of the season in 2024-25 and produced 10 goals and eight assists in 95 games.

Omari Patrick offers wide threat, with eight goals and six assists last season and 21 in 92 across the past two campaigns for Tranmere. He has hurt Walsall before too, scoring in three of his nine meetings with the Saddlers.
