Flamengo host Palmeiras in the Brasileirão at the Maracanã on 24 May 2026, with first against second and early control of the title race in focus.
Flamengo and Palmeiras renew a heavyweight rivalry shaped by recent high stakes. The sides last met in the 2025 Libertadores final, which Palmeiras won 1-0. Both arrive near the summit again, setting up a top of the table check on credentials.
Fla are unbeaten in their past five league matches and have not lost at home this season. Verdão are also unbeaten in five in the league, with two wins and three draws, and have suffered only one away defeat.
Mengão are without suspended defender Danilo, while Giorgian de Arrascaeta, Éverton and Gonzalo Plata are sidelined. Palestra list several injured absentees, including Felipe Anderson, Joaquín Piquerez, Bruno Fuchs, Ramón Sosa, Vitor Roque and Benedetti.
Both teams have conceded 13 league goals, pointing to organised defences. Fla have allowed only four at the Maracanã and could lean on that home solidity. Verdão have scored 11 times away and may look to exploit spaces on transitions.
Palmeiras lead on 35 points and a win would take them to 38, tightening their grip on top spot. A home victory would move Fla to 34 and cut the gap to one point, keeping the title race finely poised.
