According to Globo.com, Flamengo and West Ham have reached a financial agreement for Lucas Paquetá at 41.25 million euros, R$ 255.9 million, fixed, with payment terms still under discussion.
Flamengo propose instalments over three years, while West Ham want the full amount within 18 months. If a compromise is struck, Paquetá would return to Flamengo immediately.
Talks are seeking a middle ground on the schedule, with optimism that both sides will soften positions. A plan between two and two and a half years is being explored, with hope of resolution by midweek.
Flamengo removed bonuses from their offer, guaranteeing the full fee. With victories over Tottenham and Sunderland, West Ham boosted their survival bid without Paquetá and the fans turned against his stance.
Should the deal proceed as the clubs and the player’s camp expect, the aim is for Paquetá to be available to Filipe Luís for the Supercopa Rei against Corinthians in Brasília next Sunday.
Paquetá came through Flamengo’s academy, debuted in 2016, became a starter in 2017, then joined Milan in January 2019. He later played for Lyon before moving to West Ham in 2022.
If finalised on these terms, it would be the costliest signing in Brazilian club history, surpassing Gerson’s move to Cruzeiro. Flamengo have already added Vitão and goalkeeper Andrew this month.
