Flamengo announce alternative line-up for Portuguesa, kick off 2026 in Carioca round five | OneFootball

Flamengo begin their 2026 campaign on Sunday 11 at 18:00 Brasília time, facing Portuguesa in the fifth round of the Campeonato Carioca with an alternative line-up led by under-20 coach Bruno Pivetti. According to Coluna Do Fla, this is the club’s season opener.

Flamengo start with Léo Nanetti, Daniel Sales, Iago, João Victor and Johnny, Lucas Vieira, Pablo Lúcio and Guilherme, Douglas Telles, Caio Joshua and Wallace Yan.

The bench comprises Pedro Batista, Wanderson, Gusttavo, Carbone, Da Mata, Germano, Bruno Xavier, Kaio Junior, Kaio Nobrega, Alan Santos, Camargo and David Viana.

The most experienced name in Pivetti’s side is Wallace Yan, who returned early from his holiday after integrating with Filipe Luís’s group to bolster the team at the start of the state campaign. Guilherme and Douglas Telles also impressed in the final round of last year’s Brasileirão, a 3-3 draw with Mirassol.

Although this is Flamengo’s debut, the fixture counts as round five because it had been set for 31 January before FERJ brought it forward.

Flamengo meet Corinthians in the Supercopa do Brasil on 1 February at 16:00 Brasília time at Estádio Mané Garrincha, a date between Brasileirão fixtures against São Paulo on 28 and Internacional on 4.

TV Globo will broadcast the match free to air across most of Brazil, except Ceará, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and São Paulo, while Premiere will show it nationwide on pay-per-view.
