Flamengo confirm Gonzalo Plata out of Vitória cup tie, Alex Sandro back | OneFootball

Flamengo have named their squad for the Copa do Brasil second leg at Vitória on Thursday, 21:30 Brasília time, but Gonzalo Plata misses out with left knee pain. The Rio side won the first leg 2-1 at the Maracanã and advance with a draw at Barradão.

The club said in a statement that after heavy trauma to his left knee against Grêmio, Plata remains in pain and is not fit to play. He has also shared an image on social media undergoing treatment.

Alex Sandro is available after serving a suspension against Grêmio on Sunday in the Brasileirão. Wallace Yan is recalled after two games out for technical reasons.

Ayrton Lucas also felt muscular pain versus Grêmio, no injury was found and he has travelled to Salvador.

Paquetá and Pulgar will not face Vitória, though both continue partial work with the group alongside physios and fitness staff. There is an expectation Pulgar will be available to meet Athletico-PR next weekend in the league, while Paquetá should return the following week for Estudiantes in the Libertadores.

Arrascaeta, recently operated on for a fractured clavicle, follows his medical programme and is doing physiotherapy at the Ninho do Urubu. He is racing to be ready for Uruguay’s World Cup campaign, and in any case can only play for Flamengo in the second half of the year because domestic football pauses during the tournament.
