Flamengo will enter the transfer market for a new centre-forward when the window opens. Robert Lewandowski could be an option if he leaves Barcelona on a free in June.
Guillem Balague reports that Lewandowski will not renew his Barcelona contract, so the 37-year-old will depart in June and be free to sign for any club.
The Poland striker has lost ground at Barcelona this season, with 41 appearances, 17 goals and two assists.
That return is well down on last term, when he scored 42 in 52 and provided three assists.
Flamengo want competition for Pedro. Wallace Yan is in the squad but has been used sparingly, and Juninho and Carlinhos were moved on early in the season.
Pedro struck twice on Sunday 26 as Flamengo beat Atlético-MG 4-0, with Gonzalo Plata and Arrascaeta also scoring. The result keeps them close to Palmeiras in the Brasileiro.
Focus now shifts to the Copa Libertadores, with Estudiantes away on Wednesday 29 at 21:30 Brasília time in the third round.
