Flamengo have sacked coach Filipe Luís early on Tuesday after an 8-0 win over Madureira in the second leg of the Carioca semi-final. According to Coluna Do Fla, the decision triggers a three-month payoff.
The coach will receive about R$ six million, based on a salary of around R$ two million a month.
He departs after 101 matches, with 64 wins, 22 draws and 15 defeats, a 70% record. He lifted seven trophies, Copa do Brasil, Supercopa do Brasil, Carioca, Brasileirão, Libertadores, Derby das Américas and Challenger Cup.
Before the change, Flamengo had lined up Leonardo Jardim. The Portuguese is expected to arrive in Rio later on Tuesday to sign a two-year deal.
His most recent job was with Cruzeiro from February to December 2025, overseeing 55 games, 25 wins, 18 draws and 12 defeats, a 56% record.
Jardim will have his first assignment on Sunday, when Flamengo face Fluminense at 18:00 Brasília time at the Maracanã in the Campeonato Carioca final.
