Flamengo goalkeeper Leo Nannetti, 18, has been brought into Brazil’s World Cup preparations as an additional training option.
According to Coluna Do Fla, he joined from the start of camp at Granja Comary in Teresópolis after a request from Taffarel, the national team’s goalkeeping coach, who prefers to work with four keepers. With Ancelotti naming only three, Nannetti has trained alongside Alisson, Ederson and Weverton.
Alisson praised the teenager after Sunday’s win over Panama, noting they work together daily, that Nannetti is eager to learn and already shows significant potential. He said few have had such an opportunity at 18 and that he himself did not. He had heard of Nannetti through Filipe Luís and believes the youngster’s focus, a key trait for a keeper, could underpin a strong career.
Nannetti is training fully with the senior trio, gaining valuable experience during the camp. He is not eligible to play in friendlies because he is not on the official call-up list, which FIFA rules prohibit.
Brazil face Egypt on Saturday at 19:00 Brasília time in the United States. Globo and SporTV will broadcast the match.
