Flamengo have added Orlando City’s Martín Ojeda to their shortlist as they look for an attacking midfielder, after coach Leonardo Jardim highlighted a need in that area. According to Coluna Do Fla, the Argentine is among the options being assessed.
At 27, Ojeda is viewed as a potential solution for the creative unit. For now, Flamengo are only making initial enquiries, monitoring whether he matches the technical profile to lift the team’s level.
Ojeda joined Orlando City in January 2023 and is under contract until June 2029. His earlier career was in Argentina with Racing from 2018 to 2019, Huracán in 2020 and Godoy Cruz between 2020 and 2023.
He has previously ranked among MLS standouts for chances created. In the 2026 campaign he has 11 goals from 16 appearances across the league and the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
For Flamengo, Arrascaeta remains the undisputed playmaker, though at 32 he no longer carries the same physical load. To share minutes, the club signed Carrascal midway through 2025 when Filipe Luís was head coach.
Since Jardim’s arrival in March, the approach has shifted. The new manager does not consider Carrascal the ideal creator, tending to use him wider, and he is seeking an intermediate profile. He also does not see Paquetá for that role, believing the number 20 performs better as a second midfielder.
