Flamengo are racing to bolster for the Libertadores round of 16, negotiating Almada while pursuing ‘plan B’ Luiz Henrique in parallel, aiming to secure at least one marquee addition before the 11 September transfer deadline.
According to Coluna Do Fla, director of football José Boto spent the weekend tackling outstanding issues in talks for Almada, aiming to settle the situation in the coming days, and some recent noise has come from the player’s camp applying pressure to lift the numbers.
Flamengo have also intensified discussions with Luiz Henrique. Although he and Almada play different roles, both operate in attack for Leonardo Jardim’s side.
Negotiations for Almada are in the final stretch internally, and there is belief the move could be completed. Caution remains, since any deal not yet closed can still slip.
Flamengo’s offer is around 27 million euros, about R$ 158.2 million, rising to 30 million euros, roughly R$ 175.8 million, with bonuses. River Plate are trying to convince Almada they have a better proposal, and with no European bid, he is close to choosing his South American destination.
For players of this calibre, longer and more complex negotiations are normal. Either Almada or Luiz Henrique could raise the team’s level.
