Flamengo will send Campeonato Carioca winners' medals to former head coach Filipe Luís and members of his coaching staff, despite their dismissal after the semi-final.

According to Globo.com, Leonardo Jardim's side were crowned on Sunday after beating Fluminense on penalties.

Assistant Ivan Palanco and fitness coach Diogo Linhares will also receive medals. Rodrigo Caio, a permanent assistant who resigned in solidarity with Filipe Luís, will be honoured too.

Club president Bap said after the win that it was fair for Filipe Luís to receive a medal, praising his significant contribution but stressing the need to look ahead.

Filipe Luís was sacked in the early hours of last Tuesday after an 8-0 win over Madureira in the Campeonato Carioca semi-final. He had overseen six matches, with five wins and one defeat.
