Despite lifting the Carioca title, Flamengo placed only two players in the 2026 team of the tournament, Léo Pereira and Pedro, while runners-up Fluminense supplied five.
Flamengo began with their under-20s, took one point from the first three rounds, then advanced in fourth after a combination of results. The Federação Estadual de Futebol do Rio de Janeiro, FERJ, named the XI as Fluminense’s Fábio, Jemmes, Martinelli, Lucho Acosta and Kevin Serna, Vasco’s Puma, Madureira’s Matheus Julião, Botafogo’s Danilo, Bangu’s Patryck, plus Flamengo’s Léo Pereira and Pedro, with Luis Zubeldía as coach.
In the knockouts, Flamengo beat Botafogo in a single-leg quarter-final at the Engenhão, then swept Madureira 11-0 on aggregate in the semi-finals. The final finished 0-0, and Fla defeated Fluminense on penalties.
Pedro also shared the top-scorer award on six goals with Patryck of Bangu.
The coaching award went to Zubeldía, a surprise given Fluminense lost the final. With Filipe Luís dismissed and Leonardo Jardim having overseen only one match, the FERJ chose the Fluminense manager.
The awards ceremony took place on Monday in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, attended by Léo Pereira, Pedro, Agustín Rossi, Luiz Eduardo Baptista (Bap), José Boto and Flamengo’s new head coach, Leonardo Jardim.
