Chiefs not daunted by Zamalek rich history, says Silva

Kaizer Chiefs striker Flavio Da Silva says his team is unfazed by the continental pedigree of Zamalek SC ahead of the two teams' crucial CAF Confederation Cup clash on Saturday.

The Soweto giants, two points clear of the second-placed Egyptian heavyweights, who have eight points, will progress to the knockout stages with a solitary point.

With the high-stakes Group D finale looming, Silva insists Chiefs are not intimidated by the five-time CAF Champions League and the two-time CAF Confederation Cup winners.

“It's an important moment for us. We had a long journey here and we are fully focused on what we have to do because we want to progress to the next round,” the Guinea-Bissau international told Chiefs' media department.

"They are a big team with experience at playing at this level but we are not daunted by them. We have our mission and we are only focused on getting the result we need to go through. We expect a tough game but we are ready for the fight.

"It is a clash between two of the biggest clubs in Africa, so the vibes around this game are like a cup final, and that's how we are viewing it.

The 29-year-old went on to vow scoring more goals, having netted six times in 17 matches across all competitions since joining the club at the beginning of the season.

“I want to score more to help the team. As a striker, it is my job to do that but the fact that we have quality players to set up the chances is a big help. We are getting better and I am sure more goals will come,” Silva added.

"Although my main task is to put the ball in the back of the net, we still have a purpose as a team, which is to win, so I also have defensive duties and I am happy to contribute to the benefit of the team every way I can.
