The manner in which Hansi Flick has integrated into Barcelona’s identity since arriving from Germany last year is truly impressive, and it is safe to say that the manager has understood the club’s identity to absolute perfection.

Flick’s time at Barcelona so far has been headlined with the youngsters taking charge, and he has shown a great eye for catching talents young.

The fact that he spoke so highly of Marc Bernal, time and again, needless to say, says a lot about the midfielder’s quality, and the manager will look to count more on the player in the coming months.

Clear with his stance

As relayed in a recent report by SPORT, Flick has taken personal interest in monitoring Bernal’s situation in recent months and has wanted to personally manage his return to the dynamics as he sees him to be a player who can mark an era at the club.

After all, the German coach was infatuated with Bernal’s talent right from last season’s pre-season campaign, and he began the previous season with the youngster as a regular starter until he tore his ACL.

The player’s recovery has gone well, and Flick has remained cautious over his integration back into the dynamics to avoid any form of relapse. In fact, it was Flick who took special interest in ensuring Bernal does not leave on loan.

It comes as no surprise that the youngster had several offers on his table in the summer to leave on loan, with even Real Betis interested.

Flick, however, was clear that the teenager would stay under his command to ensure he could return to his best with caution.

Now, in fact, the German manager even protected Bernal from the Spanish U21 team call-up, and it is clear that he counts on the player in the long run.

The 18-year-old’s prominence will only improve as the months pass by, and it may not be long before he is a regular starter.
