In a short time, Marc Casado has firmly established himself as one of the most important players in Hansi Flick’s Barcelona setup this season.
Having gotten a regular run in the team after Marc Bernal’s early-season injury, the La Masia graduate has not looked back at all, forming a brilliant partnership alongside Pedri in the Blaugrana midfield axis.
Casado’s quality was on display once again last night as Barcelona outclassed Real Madrid to win the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia.
Although this is the young midfielder’s first season in the senior squad, Casado has already become a trusted lieutenant for Hansi Flick, his main supporter within the team.
While there were calls to sign a defensive midfielder, Barcelona found the solution within their own academy, and Mundo Deportivo highlights the great amount of trust that the manager places in the youngster which was on display last night.

When Wojciech Szczesny was shown a straight red card following a VAR review, Flick immediately turned to Casado and called him to the touchline.
The German manager outlined the tactical adjustments and the game plan for playing with a numerical disadvantage after the team were reduced to ten men to the youngster.
Casado, quick to act, gathered his teammates, including the senior members, in the penalty area and conveyed Flick’s instructions with precision.
The result was there for everyone to see as Barcelona executed the plan flawlessly and held off Real Madrid in the final half hour of the game without any issue despite being at a numerical disadavantage.
With this, it was evident that the young midfielder has emerged as a leader and an extension of Flick on the pitch.
