Hansi Flick made it very clear in his press conferences before the international break that he was anything but satisfied with the team’s performances in La Liga’s opening matchdays.

The Catalans, after all, were anything but impressive and scraped through two wins and one draw from their opening three league games.

Just before the international break, Flick thus called on his squad to reflect on their performances during the upcoming two-week hiatus, and his plan has worked to perfection as forwarded by SPORT.

The mark of true reflection

The outlet describes Barcelona’s display against Valencia last night to be the team’s way of letting the manager know that they seriously reflected on his words during the break, for the team that turned up last night was several levels higher than before the break.

Taking to the field at Estadi Johann Cruyff, Barcelona outplayed Valencia from start to finish and dominated across the park with a mammoth share of the possession.

The game only left Flick with a heap of positives from across the park, one that he can only see as the fruits of his genius idea of insisting that players dwell on their sub-par displays during the break.

For starters, Joan Garcia was again reliable in goal, and the Eric Garcia-Pau Cubarsi partnership looked stable at the back.

Gerard Martin and Marc Casado did phenomenally well coming in for injured stars, while Fermin Lopez made the most of his chance to prove his worth to Flick.

In addition, both Marcus Rashford and Roony Bardghji left fans with positive impressions after being handed rare starts.

The road ahead only gets harder for the Blaugrana as they now stare at a tricky fixture against Newcastle United in the UEFA Champions League. Needless to say, however, the dressing room enters the game in high spirits.
