Florent Ghisolfi ‘to step up’ bids for Serie A duo at Sunderland | OneFootball

Sunderland are accelerating their summer plans as Florent Ghisolfi weighs bids for two Serie A targets. Corriere dello Sport reports representatives of AS Roma winger Matías Soulé are in the UK for talks with the Black Cats and Fulham.

Ghisolfi previously took Soulé to the Italian capital from Juventus. Roma are said to be open to a sale to improve their UEFA financial position and reinvest before next season’s Champions League, with a fee of about £30 million widely reported. Sunderland want a new right winger after Bertrand Traoré’s exit.

Sunderland also want another centre back this summer. Reports in Italy say they could move for Sassuolo’s Bosnia defender Tarik Muharemović with an official bid next week, amid other Premier League interest and Juventus holding a 50% sell-on clause. Jhon Lucumí is another option as he enters the final year of his Bologna contract.

Caught Offside says Arsenal and Liverpool are weighing a move for former Sunderland loanee Lutsharel Geertruida. Sunderland remain interested after his strong finish that helped secure Europa League qualification, though their option to buy is understood to have expired.

Ghisolfi said this window is about quality over quantity and stability. He cited Athletic Bilbao, called last summer a refresh, and framed this one as a precise marathon. Any arrival must fit Sunderland’s values and existing cohesion.
