Florentino not contemplating Mbappé missing clásico as camp defends Italy break | OneFootball

Kylian Mbappé is under scrutiny after a short break in Italy during his recovery, with Real Madrid needing victory at Camp Nou on Sunday to stop Barcelona sealing the title.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, his entourage said the club are strictly managing his rehabilitation and argued that some criticism stems from excessive interpretation, while the outlet reports Florentino Pérez is not considering the possibility of Mbappé missing the clásico.

Images with his partner, actress Ester Expósito, surfaced while Madrid faced Espanyol, and he landed at Barajas from Sardinia shortly before kick-off. Although the club had approved a few days off, the trip was poorly received in the dressing room, the boardroom and the stands, with some team-mates questioning his commitment.

Amid the backlash, Mbappé trained at Valdebebas on Tuesday, the squad’s day off, working with physios and reconditioning staff to accelerate his return for Sunday.

He will undergo an MRI on Wednesday to assess his left semitendinosus injury, diagnosed on 27 April after he went off in the 83rd minute against Betis in Seville. Inside the club, there is no consideration of any outcome other than his involvement and the scan is assumed to be favourable.

Missing out would mean another absence in a key fixture, after games against Manchester City and Benfica in the Champions League, Atlético and Barcelona in the Supercopa, when he played only 10 minutes, and the Copa defeat to Albacete. Questions over his involvement and frictions with team-mates, Xabi Alonso’s staff and the medical department have only intensified.
