Florentino Perez is preparing to hold a direct meeting with Kylian Mbappe following the French superstar’s controversial comments regarding Alvaro Arbeloa after the victory over Real Oviedo.

According to reports from Miguel Serrano, the Real Madrid president wants to personally address the growing tension surrounding Mbappe after the forward publicly suggested he had become the “fourth-choice striker” in the squad. 

Although Arbeloa has denied making such a statement, these comments have created even more attention around the situation.

What’s the story?

The journalist claims that the Real Madrid president will not handle the matter alone. 

In that context, long-serving Real Madrid CEO Jose Angel Sanchez is also expected to participate in the discussions with the player.

The objective behind the meeting is to clear the air after a chaotic end to the season and understand everything that has happened over recent months.

Mbappe’s difficult second campaign at Real Madrid has been filled with tension. 

Furthermore, injuries, criticism from supporters, the controversial trip to Italy during recovery and growing pressure at the Santiago Bernabeu have all contributed to an increasingly uncomfortable atmosphere around the Frenchman.

The situation escalated even further against Oviedo when sections of the Bernabeu crowd loudly booed Mbappe after he entered the pitch from the bench.

Despite the growing noise surrounding the player, the club hierarchy still sees Mbappe as central to Real Madrid’s future, as Perez has said in his recent press conference.

The president’s priority now is to restore unity and ensure the French superstar remains fully committed mentally and professionally heading into next season.

Within the club, there is awareness that tensions between players, coaching staff and supporters have become increasingly visible during a disappointing campaign without major trophies.
