Florentino Perez and Enrique Riquelme are the biggest stories at Real Madrid this weekend as they take each other on in the presidential election on Sunday.
A lot of back-and-forth statements have been made by both candidates, mostly attacking each other’s campaigns and policies.
However, on the eve of the election, Perez, aside from slandering Riquelme’s wayward promises, has also talked about the success of Real Madrid’s academy, La Fabrica.

Speaking at a packed campaign event, Perez used his final address before the election to celebrate the achievements of the club’s youth system in front of a large gathering of members and supporters.
“We have the best facilities, with a sports complex admired by all. With a youth academy that is the best in the world, and European champions again,” he said (h/t Diario AS).
Our Under-19 A team has won the Treble: Youth League, League, and Champions Cup,” Perez added.
He also took the opportunity to push back against what he characterised as his rival’s repeated attacks on the club’s infrastructure and reputation.

“Real Madrid members won’t be fooled. This club has the best professionals, the best executives, the most loyal and well-prepared employees. We have the best stadium in the world, the one the candidate constantly disparages,” he added.
He concluded his speech with a rallying call to the membership. “Go and vote for those who made us Madridistas. And because we still have a lot of history to make.”
With election day arriving on Sunday, Perez is being marked as the clear favourite and barring any surprises, the Spaniard will retain power heading into the new season.
