Benfica are on high alert as guarded answers from José Mourinho and Florentino Pérez fuel talk of a Real Madrid reunion. According to A Bola, Pérez has remained in contact with the Benfica coach.

The Madrid president was seen smiling when asked about the Benfica manager, a reaction viewed as potentially telling over Mourinho’s future. The dominant scenario being discussed is his departure.

Talks are said to aim at ironing out details of a possible return to Real Madrid, where Mourinho was in charge from 2010 to 2013.

Mourinho, 63 and still at Benfica, continues to insist he has not received any approach.
