Defeat in the Champions League often brings doubt, but at Real Madrid, it tends to spark belief instead.

That was exactly the case after their 1-2 loss to Bayern Munich in the quarter-final first leg, as club president Florentino Perez made a decisive move behind the scenes.

As per Defensa Central, shortly after the final whistle at the Santiago Bernabeu, Perez headed straight to the dressing room.

As such, the president’s presence carried a message that showed the fighting spirit long associated with the club.

What was Perez’s message?

It must be noted that despite creating chances and registering multiple shots on target, inefficiency in front of the goal proved costly.

Players like Vinicius Jr. and Kylian Mbappe were unable to fully capitalise on their opportunities, something that ultimately tilted the balance in Bayern’s favour.

In that moment of disappointment, Perez chose to inject belief rather than criticism.

Addressing the squad, he reinforced the club’s historic dominance in Europe and their ability to deliver on the biggest stage.

“We’re going to win in Munich; anyone who doesn’t believe it should stay home,” the president told the Real Madrid squad.

The message served as a reminder of Real Madrid’s legacy, one built on comebacks and total confidence.

Perez reportedly pointed to the club’s strong record at the Allianz Arena, highlighting that their last defeat there dates back to 2012.

Notably, manager Alvaro Arbeloa had already struck a similar tone publicly, but hearing it directly from the president inside the dressing room appeared to have a deeper impact.

Players are said to have responded positively, drawing motivation from both the message and the faith shown in them.

The challenge ahead remains enormous, as facing Bayern Munich on their home turf is one of the toughest tasks in European football.

Yet, within the Real Madrid camp, there is no sense of surrender.
