Florian Thauvin on France preliminary list, says PSG game unlikely to change Deschamps' mind | OneFootball

Florian Thauvin says he is on France’s preliminary list and does not expect Lens’s meeting with PSG at Bollaert on Wednesday to influence Didier Deschamps before the World Cup squad announcement.

He explained he briefly crossed paths with Deschamps at the UNFP awards on Monday and understood the coach already has a clear plan in mind. According to L'Équipe, Thauvin spoke to reporters on Tuesday ahead of the game.

The forward said he is in the pre-selection but has no further information. He added that being on the preliminary list is nothing new, noting it has been the case for almost two years.

At the UNFP ceremony, Thauvin was named in Ligue 1’s Team of the Season. Ousmane Dembélé won the player of the year award.

Thauvin returned to the national team in October, more than six years after his previous cap, and scored his second international goal in a 3-0 win over Azerbaijan in World Cup qualifying. He was not involved in France’s tour of the United States in March.
