On Thursday 9, Fluminense told supporters the Flamengo derby would be on Saturday 11, only for the CBF to move it to Sunday 12 minutes later, according to Coluna Do Fla.
The Instagram post, written in block capitals and pushing ticket sales, insisted on Saturday. After the switch, the caption was edited.
Flamengo requested the change after beating Cusco (PER) at 3,400 metres in their Libertadores opener, then facing travel issues. The team only reached Rio de Janeiro on Thursday night 9, after which the club contacted the CBF, FERJ and the Military Police to seek a Sunday 12 date.
The Military Police and the CBF approved the rearrangement. Comments under Fluminense’s post largely urged no change, with many calling for the match to stay on Saturday.
The clássico will be played on Sunday at 18:00 Brasília time. It counts for the 11th round of the Brasileirão.
