Fluminense seal signing of midfielder Stiven Jimenez for under-20s

Fluminense finalized on Monday (09/14) the signing of American defensive midfielder Stiven Jimenez, 19, for the Under-20 team. The youngest player ever to make his professional debut for Cincinnati (USA), in 2023, at 15 years and 362 days old, the new addition arrives on loan until December. He is already integrated into coach Fred’s squad at the Vale das Laranjeiras Training Center, in Xerém.

“I’m very happy with the decision I made as soon as I heard about Fluminense’s interest. Everyone welcomed me with a lot of love and made me feel comfortable. I had always heard many good things about coach Fred, who is an idol, so I’m grateful to God for the opportunity. I already want to help the team, be out on the field, and build my story here. My goal is to make the fans happy and make my professional debut,” he said.

The son of a Mexican father and a Salvadoran mother, Stiven was born in Riverdale, in the United States, and played for clubs such as D.C. United before being called up to the youth national teams of Mexico and his home country. The midfielder also became the fifth-youngest player to appear in Major League Soccer (MLS). In February, he scored his first professional goal.
