Flying Jess Park reveals how Marc Skinner has sparked her stunning Man United rise | OneFootball

Manchester United star Jess Park has opened up on the crucial role of Marc Skinner in her electric form for the club.

Unstoppable Park

Having joined United last summer from cross-town rivals Manchester City as part of a swap deal that involved Grace Clinton going the other way, Park has wasted no time in making her presence felt in the red side of the city.

She has emerged as one of the best players in the WSL this season and certainly at United, with the team currently lying in second place in the table and going strong in the Champions League.

Park has established herself as United’s primary outlet and creative engine. While her partnership with Ella Toone has been particularly devastating, Park’s influence on the team has not waned, even during Toone’s injury-enforced absence.

The United summer signing has enjoyed a stellar campaign so far, boasting six goals and four assists in the WSL. This return already represents her best-ever season in the league in terms of goal contributions, and with six games still to play, there is plenty of time to eclipse it.

She spoke to GOAL and discussed her move to United and how exactly Skinner has taken her game to the next level.

Park’s revelation

The 24-year-old said about her switch to United from City, “Of course, you’re going to be a little bit sceptical.”

“But as soon as I hit the field, I heard the fans straight away and that’s much appreciated. I’ve loved every minute of it.”

She put her incredible run of form down to the freedom Skinner has given her on the pitch.

Asked what message Skinner has given her, Park answered, “Have freedom, find the ball, find the spaces, find the pockets.”

“A position is just where you start. It doesn’t have to be where you finish. I just like to link up with the players around me, try and do that as best as I can, and create opportunities to score and assist.”

On what that kind of freedom does to a player’s confidence, Park explained, “I’m confident in myself, and him then giving me that on top of it has really given me a different angle of the game to go and express myself and go and play football.”

Park and United are next in action on Sunday when they face Chelsea in the final of the Women’s League Cup.
