Phil Foden insists Manchester City still believe they can win the Premier League title, after beating rivals Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final.

City trail Arsenal by nine points in the Premier League, though having played a game fewer than Mikel Arteta’s men.

But they came out on top at Wembley thanks to two goals from Nico O’Reilly.

While Foden, like his manager Pep Guardiola, believes the Carabao Cup victory will have little bearing on the Premier League, he says he and his team-mates still believe they can catch the Gunners.

“I don’t think so, it’s a different competition,” he said on whether this victory is a phycological blow for Arsenal.

“I think it’s just good to win it for our confidence but I don’t think it has anything to do with the title.

“There’s still so much to play for. We’ve got internationals now so some lads can clear their heads and come back fresh.

“It’s still possible to do. We still believe in it and like I said, it’s just small steps in the right direction. It’s a good confidence boost and we’ll see when we get back.”
