Foden living out boyhood dream as he pens 2030 extension | OneFootball

Phil Foden says being a Manchester City player is like a “dream” and he is looking forward to the next chapter of a glorious career.

Our homegrown playmaker has committed to a further four years with the Blues with his latest contract extension which will take his association with the Club to beyond 20 years at youth and senior level.

With 369 appearances and 110 goals already under his belt, Foden has a raft of records firmly within his sights as he looks to add to the 19 trophies he’s already won with his boyhood heroes.

“Yeah, it’s an unbelievable feeling [signing the extension],” said Foden.

“Obviously, being here since a young age, coming through the full Academy into the first team, it’s always been a dream of mine to play for City.

“I’m lost for words really, to continue my journey. I’ve had so many great memories here, winning a lot of trophies and I’ve enjoyed every single day.

“[Being here so long] means everything. It’s all I’ve ever thought about as a kid, is playing for the first team, winning trophies and it’s just the perfect club and a place where I’m really happy and every single day I come in I just enjoy it so much.

“Seeing all the staff and the players it’s really a family, I would say.”

The 2026/27 campaign will be his tenth in a Manchester City shirt and his 18th year as part of the Club – not bad for a player who only turned 26 two months ago.

“Not in a million years!” he smiled.

“I would say I had a dream to make it to the first team, but yeah, to stay this long, yeah, it’s all a dream really. And like I said, I’m just enjoying it and trying to make the most of it.

“[Creating goals, scoring them…] I would say I’ve always had it in me from a young age. I always want to be the one deciding games or making a good assist.

“So that’s the type of player I am in and around the box I want to be dangerous and hopefully this season I can pick up a lot of goals and assist and help the team win games.”

And on being one of our most experienced players – and the most decorated – he added: “It’s only obviously been new to me. Obviously a lot of legends of the club have left and I feel like I’m the only one left really.

“So hopefully I can use my experience and the things I’ve won and the things I’ve seen with my teammates.

“Also I can pass that on to the new players and hopefully we can achieve good things.”
