With “Football Unites”, FC Bayern combines matchdays at the stadium with social commitment and closeness to young people. This spirit has been carried into the hearts of the cities - to Munich, Paris, London, and Eindhoven. Right to the heart of the neighbourhoods, to the pitches where children play on a daily basis, to the streets, school playgrounds and gyms. To places where urban life pulsates, far away from the glamour and the floodlights of the stadiums. To places where a matchday doesn't usually take place. In the league phase of the Champions League, FC Bayern brought the matchday to those young people who wouldn't normally have the opportunity to experience it.
In close cooperation with the opposing teams, numerous activities were organised around the respective matchdays. This resulted in special experiences in which hundreds of children and young people took part. It gave them the opportunity to train with coaches from two top European clubs. They got to meet club legends and current professional players, had wonderful experiences and received gifts.
In Munich, FC Bayern, together with its partners Sporting Clube de Portugal and Union St. Gilloise, visited two schools, the Fromundstraße the Rotbuchenstraße primary schools. In the Paris suburb of Poissy, children from the Banlieue district were invited to a joint event with PSG. FC Bayern visited Islington in north London with Arsenal, and together with PSV, a special event was organised for children and young people from all over Eindhoven. And there were always training sessions, educational activities, mini matchdays and special encounters with FC Bayern Legends like Roy Makaay, Thomas Linke, Bernd Dreher and Diego Contento, among others. Youth player Wisdom Mike was also on hand in Munich. They all spent time with the children, handed out gifts, signed jerseys and answered questions.
In this way, whether in Munich or in other European host cities, FC Bayern makes a matchday tangible. It brings the magic of the Champions League straight to young people, into their neighbourhoods and right into the heart of their everyday lives. So the matchday isn't just a sporting highlight, it's also a social one - an occasion on which the club demonstrates its sense of social responsibility.
FC Bayern have already fought some epic battles in the Champions League this season. And that's why we love this sport. But rivalries on the pitch do not stand in the way of a shared commitment off the pitch. Football can unite, it can build bridges and make a real difference in people's lives. That's Football Unites. That's FC Bayern.
