Nottingham Forest have dismissed Ange Postecoglou after only 39 days in charge, a brutal decision that arrived less than 20 minutes after a 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea. “Nottingham Forest football club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect.” That was the stark statement issued as boos echoed around the City Ground. Supporters had already made their feelings clear with chants of “you don’t know what you’re doing” following the withdrawal of Douglas Luiz.
Forest remain winless after eight matches under Postecoglou, conceding heavily and showing little of the discipline required to compete. Owner Evangelos Marinakis leaving his seat on 63 minutes said more than any press release.
Attention now shifts to potential replacements with Sean Dyche strongly linked. Forest cannot afford another misstep as they look nervously at upcoming fixtures against Liverpool, Man United and Aston Villa. Failure to stabilise quickly could turn a bad start into a relegation crisis.

Forest did show signs of progress in the first half against Chelsea, yet discipline and decision-making evaporated under pressure. That has been the story of this brief era and it has cost Postecoglou dearly.
