Nottingham Forest’s Champions League hopes took a hit after they were held to a 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park by Crystal Palace.

The first half was fairly quiet - Daniel Muñoz forced a save from Matz Sels, and for the visitors, Anthony Elanga had a decent chance just before the break.

Just minutes into the second period, Ismaila Sarr had a golden opportunity to score, but Sels pulled off a superb stop to deny him.

But shortly after, the keeper went from hero to villain - he brought down Tyrick Mitchell in the box, and Eberechi Eze made no mistake with the penalty after VAR confirmed the foul.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side levelled five minutes later thanks to a deflected shot from Neco Williams that caught a lucky touch off Murillo and ended up in the net.

In the dying moments, Eze almost clinched victory with a strike from distance, only to see it crash off the crossbar.

The draw means Forest remain sixth with 61 points, just two behind Newcastle and Chelsea, who sit fourth and fifth, with three matches left in the race for the Champions League. Meanwhile, Palace stay 12th.
