FIXTURES:
FULL TIME!
Tottenham 0-3 Nottingham Forest
Aston Villa 2-0 West Ham
A stunning day for Forest, who move three clear of the Irons in 18th and leapfrog Spurs, who hit a new low.
Villa get a much-needed win and are just one point off Man United in third and clear of both Liverpool and Chelsea.
There is widespread boos and exits from the home section.
After a brief uplift, Spurs are at rock bottom once again.
Where do they go from here? Three weeks until their next game.
GOAL! 3-0 TO FOREST!
It gets better and better for Forest and Spurs hit a new low.
A brilliant delivery from Neco Williams after cutting in from the left is tapped home by substitute Taiwo Awoniyi.
Both of these games look to be over barring some remarkable late drama.
You wouldn't back Spurs or West Ham though.
Bergvall sends one just wide from inside the box after Udogie's brilliant cross comes his way.
If Spurs are to rescue something here, they have to score very soon.
Some home fans are streaming out of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
A familiar scene.
Their home form is utterly wretched with just one win since the opening day of the season. That just has to change if they are to avoid the biggest shock relegation in a generation or two.
GOAL! VILLA MAKE IT 2-0!
And deservedly so.
Ollie Watkins is the scorer, getting to the rebound from Morgan Rogers' shot quickest.
A perfect response to being left out of an enlarged England squad on Friday.
It's looking like a great weekend for Unai Emery.
GOAL! FOREST DOUBLE THEIR LEAD!
And it's Morgan Gibbs-White who's got it - the player who came so close to joining Spurs in the summer.
Callun Hudson-Odoi does brilliantly to get down the line and pulls it back for his skipper, who puts the ball in from six yards out.
Mutiny could soon be in the air here.
Amadou Onana is the next Villa player to have a crack, firing over from 20 or so yards.
Vicario kept Spurs in the game with a fine save from a Neco Williams header but they are still struggling to make real chances.
Needless to say, the next goal is absolutely vital in both games.
Villa have started the second half like they ended the first.
Matty Cash fires a shot over as they look to double their advantage.
Back under way in both games. A huge 45 minutes in all four clubs' seasons.
Spurs and West Ham are both making double changes at the break.
Lucas Bergvall and Destiny Udogie are brought on by Igor Tudor while Adama Traore and Callum Wilson are on for the Irons.
HALF TIME!
Dream half for Forest so far with results going their way in both games.
Villa deservedly in the lead too with West Ham lucky to be only one down.
OFF THE BAR!
Tel almost draws Spurs level right before the break but Matz Sels gets a fingertip to the ball, putting it onto the bar.
Spurs look for a penalty in the immediate aftermath for hands on Romero from Williams.
No goal and no penalty awarded.
A tale of two Igors in North London right now.
GOAL! FOREST LEAD!
And that goal has come for the visitors!
Spurs don't deal well with Neco Williams' corner and Igor Jesus gets great contact on the ball to head it past Guglielmo Vicario.
A huge goal.
Tottenham are on top against Forest but there's little in the way of real openings.
A goal before half time for either side would be huge.
Mavropanos is keeping the Irons in this one, blocking Rogers' shot with his head.
Might that be a turning point? West Ham need to step it up here.
PENALTY OVERTURNED!
Konstantinos Mavropanos brought down Ollie Watkins inside the box but there was no foul.
PENALTY AWARDED TO VILLA!
But the referee has gone to the monitor.
GOAL! VILLA LEAD!
Villa lead and it's a goal straight out of the free kick playbook, with John McGinn ending up curling home brilliantly from the edge of the box.
Richarlison gets up to connect with Tel's corner but puts it wide of the far post.
He might have done better.
Mathys Tel has looked far more confident in the last couple of games and he does well to fashion a shot for himself.
Forest just about put it out for a corner.
Villa have started the better in the other game but West Ham have become hard to break down of late with the exception of their trip to Anfield.
Little to report bar a small penalty shout for Forest.
Elliot Anderson goes down under light pressure from Kevin Danso.
The England midfielder doesn't appeal for it and nothing comes from it.
KICK OFF!
And we're underway at Villa Park and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
More drama please.
There's no time for breather after that dramatic ending with two huge games kicking off in five minutes.
Spurs-Forest is the biggest game of the season so far while Villa-West Ham will have major implications at both ends of the table.
FULL TIME!
Sunderland brilliantly seal a comeback win and a league double over their greatest rivals.
The win puts them above Newcastle in the table and marks an absolute dream return to the top flight.
As for the Mapgies, they are booed off and their season is all but over.
We're past the seven additional minutes but there should be some time given Brobbey's celebration.
Incredibly in the Premier League era, Sunderland have won more away games against Newcastle than any other side.
They absolutely love derby day and are minutes away from a double, eight wins from the last nine league games and a record 11 unbeaten in the league in the derby.
That's Brobbey's final kick as he and fellow scorer Talbi go off for Elizier Mayenda and Reinildo.
Le Bris is holding this and who could blame him?
GOAL! SUNDERLAND HAVE WON IT!
With just 10 seconds left in normal time, Brian Brobbey might just have won it.
Le Fée gets space on the right after good build up play and somehow the big striker is left free in the box.
Ramsdale saves the first effort but Brobbey bundles in the rebound.
Amazing.
Due to Botman's head injury, Newcastle have an extra sub.
Surprisigly Gordon comes off with Wissa on.
Gordon fires over for the second time in quick succession.
If anyone is to score for Newcastle, you feel it will be him again.
Enzo Le Fée is on for the final five minutes plus added time.
Could he provide the magic for a Mackems win?
Sunderland have made no changes - mostly due to their lengthy injury list - while Newcastle have made five.
Could that extra energy be the difference in the final 10 minutes?
Howe makes his final sub with Harvey Barnes making way for William Osula.
The Dane scored the winner in Newcastle's last home league game against Manchester United.
The final score? 2-1.
GOAL RULED OUT!
Thiaw powers a header in from Gordon's corner but Jacob Murphy is both offside and holding Ellborg.
Newcastle's joy cancelled.
GOAL! NEWCASTLE RETAKE THE LEAD!
But will it stand?
HUGE CHANCE!
Noah Sadiki fires straight at Ramsdale after the ball falls to him in the box.
A great hit but way too close to the keeper.
Sunderland look the likelier to score here.
Triple change from Eddie Howe with Tino Livramento, Joe Willock and Jacob Murphy on for Kieran Trippier, Anthony Elanga and Nick Woltemade.
Needing a goal and taking off your club record signing? Not bringing on £55m Yoane Wissa? So many questions on last summer's recruitment.
Sunderland haven't lost in the league to Newcastle since 2011.
Granted, they were out of the top flight for eight years, it's still a record of seven wins and three draws from 10.
GOAL! SUNDERLAND LEVEL!
The Black Cats have been a different side after the break and now they're level.
Granit Xhaka whips a dangerous corner in that Aarom Ramsdale punches away.
However the ball is put back into the box and Chemsdine Talbi scrambles home from close range.
Newcastle forced into a change with Sven Botman coming off after a knock to the head.
Malick Thiaw is on in his place.
And here's Forest...
Teams are in for the mammoth relegation six-pointer at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Here's how Spurs line up...
BACK UNDERWAY!
Can Sunderland fight back and keep up their incredible recent derby record?
HALF TIME!
Gordon's goal is the difference at the break.
Trai Hume is the first into the book for an obvious foul on Elanga, who was about to get away and into the box.
OFF THE POST!
Hall's next cross is inch-perfect but Sven Botman's powerful header beats Ellborg but not the post.
Woltemade and Hall combine on the break but Sunderland get the ball away.
Not the best cross from England's potential new starting left back.
Sunderland are looking for a way back into the game before the break but they're struggling to do so.
Newcastle have defended relatively well but the visitors are yet to have a real chance.
Newcastle have had four corners in the opening half hour but Sunderland have dealt with them well.
From open play, Elanga has fired wide as the hosts look for some breathing room before the break.
Anthony Gordon's goal means only João Pedro of Premier League players has scored more goals across all competitions in 2026.
He's coming into form nicely ahead of the World Cup.
Sunderland have settled slightly since that goal but missing so many players, look there for the taking for the Magpies.
GOAL! NEWCASTLE LEAD!
Newcastle lead but it's an absolute gift from Sunderland.
Luke O'Nien tries to play out from the back but hammers the ball straight at Woltemade.
The ball bounces off him and to Anthony Gordon, who brilliantly fires past Melker Ellborg.
CLOSE!
Newcastle have started positively here and they almost grab the opening goal inside four minutes.
Lewis Hall bombs down the left and whips in a brilliant cross that Anthony Elanga attacks with a fine header.
It just flies over the bar but the winger looks confident after his two goals during the week.
There's been more goals on this ground than any other in the Premier League this season.
A good omen.
KICK OFF!
And we're underway at a raucous St. James' Park.
Let's hope the action matches the atmosphere.
Kick off is fast approaching with the big news from the team news being the inclusion of Nick Woltemade and Sven Botman in the home lineup.
There is no place in the squad for Sandro Tonali, who has not recovered from the knock he picked up in the humiliation at the Nou Camp.
First up, though, is the first Tyne-Wear league derby at St. James' Park in 10 long years.
Sunderland have a brilliant record record in the derby and are looking to do the double over their great rivals having won 1-0 in the reverse fixture in December.
Newcastle are remarkably aiming for a first home win over the Black Cats since 2010.
Three points for the Mackems would move them ahead of the Magpies while a victory for Eddie Howe's side will keep alive their hopes of a late top five push.
That will depend on what happens at Villa Park where West Ham will be looking to continue their fine recent form with another positive result.
Unai Emery's side badly need a result too having lost their last three league games.
With Liverpool and Chelsea both losing yesterday, a win would consolidate their place in the top four.
Tottenham vs. Nottingham Forest might just be the biggest league game of the season so far with just a point separating the sides heading into kick off.
If there is a loser, that side could well find themselves in the relegation zone for the international break.
Arsenal vs. Man City at Wembley to decide the first trophy of the season is the main event but there is three league games of major importance.
Hello and welcome to our coverage of today's Premier League games and the Carabao Cup final.
