But at this stage, it's very difficult to predict who Liverpool are going to go for. There's an abundance of talent on the market this summer.

Viktor Gyokeres looks destined to move on from Sporting CP. Jonathan David is available on a free transfer. Alexander Isak and Julian Alvarez both could consider a move.

Victor Osimhen is expected to say his farewells to Napoli. Meanwhile, Liam Delap is available for an absolute bargain after Ipswich were relegated.

Goncalo Ramos looks set to end his frustration in Paris and move onto pastures new.

Then there's the exciting talents of Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko, both full of potential to become the best strikers in the game in years to come.

This is just a small list of the players Anfield Watch understands Liverpool are taking a look at. But the best of the lost is a name that hasn't really been mentioned for one reason - his age.

Why Serhou Guirassy is the perfect choice for Liverpool

The Guinean is going under radar despite enjoying a spectacular season at Anfield. Guirassy has scored 33 goals and has registered nine assists in just 44 matches for Borussia Dortmund.

He's averaging a goal or assist every 88.5 minutes he's spent on the pitch. Those are close to Mohamed Salah's levels, who averages a goal or assist every 77 minutes for Liverpool.

Now just imagine the two of them linking-up. Based on their numbers this season, that's pretty much two goals guaranteed every 90 minutes.

Guirassy has everything to be a success in the Premier League. He was on fire in the Champions League, he's got brilliant technical ability and he can use his speed to beat opponents.

Most importantly, he's just excellent at finding space inside the box, and putting away his chances.

Guirassy is the joint top-scorer alongside Raphinha in the Champions League and he's one of the best finishers. Averaging close to three shots per 90 minutes, Guirassy has the second best goal conversion rate in the competition among forwards.

Out of strikers who have averaged at least two shots per 90 minutes, only Lautaro Martinez 39.13% has a better goal conversion rate than Guirassy who puts away 37.5% of his total shots.

So he can perform at the highest level. But what if this is just a fluke? Well, if you need more proof of his consistency you only need to look at his numbers in the Bundesliga.

Out of forwards who have played at least 2000 minutes and have averaged 2.5 shots per 90 minutes this season, Guirassy has the best goal conversion rate putting 26.3% of his shots into the back of the net.

That's an incredible effective rate, it's better than Harry Kane who puts away just over 23% of his efforts on goal.

It's also almost double that of Hugo Ekitike's conversion rate, which is around 13.8%. But while the Frenchman is valued at €100m, Guirassy could be available for a lot less.

And there's a release clause in his contract at Dortmund that's only available to Liverpool and a handful of clubs this summer after the Club World Cup ends.

Obviously, the big elephant in the room is his age. Guirassy is 29-years-old. That's not a typical FSG signing, who don't tend to sanction moves for players nearing their 30s.

But Guirassy is a caveat. He's a late bloomer whose body had not been exposed to the high demands of the game at a young age.

He had only 107 league appearances under his belt by the time he was 24 years old, which is incredibly little considering the likes of Bellingham, Cherki and Harvey Elliott are closing in on close to 200 despite only being 21-years-old.

For most of his years, Guirassy went without playing European football, so his body was not exposed to the strenuous demands of playing a game every three days.

All of these factors increase the chances of longevity in Guirassy's career. He's just reaching the peak of his powers and he may still be able to perform at this level for the next three to four years.

That's why a move for him makes sense. Liverpool would be getting a ready-made player, who can come into the team straightaway and make a difference.
