According to The Telegraph, Hampshire Police received reports just before 9am on Thursday that a Lamborghini had collided with barriers on the southbound carriageway near the Minley Interchange.

A police statement said: “No other vehicles were involved and no injuries were reported.

“The driver, a 31-yearold man, from Berkshire, has been arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs, driving dangerously, possession of a Class C drug and failing to provide a specimen.”

The former Arsenal loanee and England international has been released on bail while inquiries continue.

It is the latest setback in a poor 2026 for Sterling, whose career has continued to stall with his short-term move to Feyenoord.

The 31-year-old joined the Dutch side in February after leaving Chelsea, choosing Rotterdam despite interest from Everton and West Ham, but the move failed to bring the reset he needed.

Feyenoord have no interest in extending his stay after a spell in which Sterling managed just 421 minutes across all appearances, without scoring. He provided one assist and received one booking, but his last goal remains the one he scored for Arsenal against Bolton in September 2024.

The move to Feyenoord began badly, with work permit delays forcing Sterling to train in Belgium for four days before he could legally train with his new team. His debut came against Telstar at De Kuip Stadium on 22 February, but he never gathered any sort of momentum.

His decline has been sharp. Sterling has 174 goals and 126 assists across 585 games for Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Feyenoord, but his post-City career has not delivered the same level. His Arsenal loan did not work, his Feyenoord spell has failed to revive him, and he is now looking for another club at a point when his options at the top level appear increasingly limited.

Sterling remains convinced he can return to form, but after this latest incident and another underwhelming season, the question is no longer just where he plays next. It is whether he can still convince a serious club that the player who once shaped major games is still there.
