The Polish superstar Robert Lewandowski announced his decision to leave FC Barcelona at the end of the last season and received a moving farewell from the Blaugrana fans. A few weeks after playing his last game for the Catalan side, the Pole is still to decide on his next club.

Lewandowski is not short of time to decide a team, as there are still several months left till the start of the next season, and the summer transfer window has not even started. The fact that he is not playing in the World Cup, Poland not having qualified, would also give him enough time to work on this matter.

However, despite not playing in the World Cup, the striker is still travelling to the United States. According to Mundo Deportivo, he is doing so to meet with officials from Chicago Fire, and hear their offer. As things stand, the Polish veteran is seriously considering joining the Illinois side, but has not yet made a final decision.

The report claims that the MLS side is offering a contract of 2-3 seasons, despite his already advanced age, with an annual salary of €20 million. While appealing, this sum is significantly less than what the Saudi side Al-Hilal is reportedly offering the Pole, i.e., €90 million. Meanwhile, European clubs like AC Milan, Juventus, and Manchester United have also recently been linked with Lewandowski.

However, one factor that makes the Polish veteran more attractive to Chiacgo Fire is their plan to appeal to the large Polish community living in Illinois, whom the club is aiming to attract to build a new stadium. This factor could also be an attractive point for Robert Lewandowski himself, as he would get to live with his compatriots, but for now, it remains to be seen which club would succeed Barcelona in his career.
