Cesare Casadei found his new home at Torino, which beat out Lazio to acquire him from Lazio on a permanent deal. The Granata paid €13M, and the Blues will receive 20 percent of a future sale. He commented on the move to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Fantacalcio).
“I strongly wanted to return to Italy and was looking forward to it. I had been trying for a while but was always obstructed for one reason or the other. The two years in England were still very useful to me. Now it’s the right time to play my cards in Serie A. I’m happy for that.”
Casadei was focused on joining Torino in particular.
“They were the first side to display a lot of trust in me, starting with president Urbano Cairo. I wish to thank him. The negotiation lasted for a long time. In the meantime, I created a bond with the Granata and their director. They made an effort to sign him, and I’m grateful. I’m sure this is the perfect choice for me. I needed a club that made me feel important. I hope to provide a great contribution. They courted me at length, and it was an honor. I never had any doubt, and this was my first choice.
Casadei was already familiar with coach Paolo Vanoli.
“I knew him because he was at Inter as part of Antonio Conte’s staff. I was a kid from the Primavera back then. We had a nice chat after the first practice. He’s one of the reasons why I wanted to come here.”
