Former Fortuna Düsseldorf star Tzolis joins Premier League champions Arsenal | OneFootball

Christos Tzolis has completed a €40 million move from Club Brugge to Arsenal, signing a five-year contract with the Premier League champions.

Sky reports that Fortuna Düsseldorf will not receive any payment from this transfer.

The Greece international was 2. Bundesliga top scorer with Düsseldorf, hitting 22 league goals and posting 24 goals with 10 assists in 37 matches overall.

After an initial loan from Norwich City, Düsseldorf signed him permanently for €3.5 million, then sold him to Club Brugge for €6.5 million after missing promotion.

He sustained his form over the past two seasons at Club Brugge and was named Jupiler Pro League Player of the Season last term.

He also converted a panenka in the shootout win over St. Pauli that sent Düsseldorf into the 2023/24 DFB-Pokal semi-finals.

Düsseldorf will compete in 3. Liga for the first time since 2009 after relegation from 2. Bundesliga.

Arsenal are also exploring a deal for RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, though PSG currently lead the race.
