Steve Cooper has been sacked by Brondby a day after their final match of the season. The former Leicester City boss only joined on a three-year deal in September. Assistant Alan Tate has also left.

Cooper led the Danish side to a fourth-placed league finish. The club said in a statement that, although his appointment lifted several aspects, results and performances did not follow, so it had chosen to part company with Cooper and Tate, expressing respect and gratitude for their work.

Julius Ohnesorge has been appointed as Brondby’s football director. A drive for a clearer identity that fans can recognise and be proud of was set out, with recent inconsistency acknowledged during a challenging period.

The new chapter is based on reconnecting with the club’s foundations. The plan calls for new energy and leadership to strengthen identity and support continued sporting development and ambitions.

Tate worked as Cooper’s assistant during their spell at the King Power Stadium.
