The former Reds left back is the first of Roberto De Zerbi’s signings since the Italian joined the club, with the 32-year-old having made 378 appearances during his time at Anfield.

Robertson joins Spurs with two Premier League titles and a Champions League triumph, bringing some much needed experience into their ranks after their youth-first recruitment policy has seen them sliding backwards.

The London club announced the signing with a picture of the Scot’s name printed on the home shirt, as the defender has already travelled to America with his national team to compete in the 2026 World Cup.

De Zerbi revealed that he had amirred Robertson from afar “for a number of years” and his arrival is the first step in rejuvenating his side’s mentality after back-to-back 17th place finishes and narrowly avoiding relegation on the final day.

He said: “He is a proven winner at the highest level over a long period and is someone who can be a big player for us, both on and off the pitch.

“Andy is someone I’ve admired for a number of years and he will bring outstanding technical qualities, experience, leadership and mentality to our team.

“I can’t wait to start working with him and seeing the positive impact he will have on everyone around him.”

The move marks the first time Robertson will not play in a European competition since Liverpool finished fourth in the 2016/17 season, the second campaign under Jurgen Klopp.

Tottenham sporting director Johan Lange shared his manager’s delight at Robertson’s arrival, describing him as one of the best left backs “of all time in the Premier League, and someone who will improve our squad” next season.

Who will Tottenham sign next?

While a great addition for De Zerbi as Robertson embarks on a new chapter following his exit from Liverpool, there is still more activity in the transfer market required to improve Tottenham’s fortunes in the Premier League.

Spurs reportedly had an initial bid for former club Brighton centre back Jan Paul van Hecke turned down, who De Zerbi is reportedly keen to reunite with and valued by the Seagulls at £70m.

Brighton are expecting a second bid for the Dutch international, who will also take part in the World Cup commencing on the 11th of June, with the deal seeming like the next closest transfer to become a reality.

French winger Mathys Tel has also reportedly been offered out to teams including Porto, which makes a move for a new player in his position more likely given his single game he spent out of the matchday squad and the agonizing wait for Dejan Kulusevski to return from a prolonged period on the side line.
