Former Liverpool manager Arne Slot is the leading candidate to become the next AC Milan manager, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

Liverpool parted company with Slot earlier today, and Andoni Iraola is the favourite to replace him at Anfield.

However, it appears Slot will not be out of work for long, with Milan in talks to appoint him.

The seven-time Champions League winners had Iraola on their radar but are now keen on appointing the Dutchman.

Milan sacked Massimiliano Allegri earlier this week following ir failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League after they finished fifth in the Serie A.

Slot also led Liverpool to a fifth-place finish in the Premier League, but it was enough to secure a place in the elite European competition.

He won the league title with the Merseyside club in 2024-25 after replacing Jurgen Klopp, but performances this season were woeful.

Slot fell out with Mohamed Salah, who criticised his style of play on social media.

He has already said ‘goodbye’ to Liverpool fans and is looking forward to the next challenge.

Slot will not be short of suitors across Europe if a move to Milan falls through, and he will be keen to prove himself elsewhere and win the Champions League.
