Luis Diaz has spoken candidly about his departure from Liverpool, describing his move to Bayern Munich as both timely and deeply fulfilling. The Colombian winger, who built a strong connection with supporters at Anfield through his direct running and relentless energy, now finds himself immersed in a different football culture, one he believes suits his ambitions and personal growth.
Speaking to Sky in Germany, Diaz made clear that Bayern’s interest carried immediate weight in his decision making.

“When FC Bayern approached me, it was clear from the very first moment that I wanted to go through with this transfer. It filled me with pride because I had known the club for a long time and basically understood what to expect there.”
His words reflect admiration for Bayern’s European stature and a long standing awareness of their identity, an institution built on domestic dominance and continental expectation.
Diaz framed his Liverpool exit not through dissatisfaction, but through aspiration. His perspective centred on emotional wellbeing, professional drive, and family comfort, key factors for elite players navigating career defining transitions.
“It was a good decision – a decision for an incredible and outstanding team. And when you arrive somewhere new, you naturally want to give your very best, to give 100 per cent and to feel comfortable where you are. Being happy is the most important thing for a player and for his family as well. It was exactly the right move to come here.”
For Liverpool, Diaz represented intensity in wide areas, a forward capable of unsettling defensive lines. For Bayern, he arrives as both reinforcement and statement signing, tasked with sustaining attacking fluency in a side accustomed to silverware.
Integration into Bayern’s structure appears seamless on a football level. Diaz highlighted the quality surrounding him, from teammates to facilities, reinforcing the scale of the club’s operational strength.
“I knew I would be joining an incredibly strong group of footballers and a club with excellent infrastructure and top-class training facilities. I had no doubts about that.”
Such surroundings demand consistency. Bayern’s internal competition sharpens performance levels, something Diaz appears to embrace as he looks to translate his Liverpool form into Bundesliga influence.
While football adaptation has been smooth, personal adjustment carries challenges. Diaz acknowledged that off pitch integration, particularly language, remains a work in progress for both him and his family.
“The most difficult part for me and my family certainly was and still is the language… but I knew I would fit in very well here and that I would contribute my part to the team’s success – just as I did previously in Liverpool. FC Bayern placed their trust in me, and I am trying to repay that trust on the pitch.”
That final reflection reconnects his present to his Liverpool past, signalling pride in what he delivered on Merseyside while underlining his determination to replicate that impact in Germany.
For Liverpool supporters, Diaz’s departure closed a vibrant chapter. For the player, Bayern Munich represents continuation, ambition, and belief in what comes next.
