Former Manchester United and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo believes that Arsenal can win the Premier League title this season.
Mikel Arteta’s side have finished second in each of the last three campaigns and are currently in pole position for the league title.
The Gunners sit six points clear at the top of the table after collecting 25 points from 10 matches.
Manchester City and Liverpool returned to winning ways in the Premier League last weekend, but both teams have been far from convincing with their displays this season.
Ronaldo appeared on the Piers Morgan Uncensored Podcast and shared his views on the title race.
When asked if Arsenal could win the league, the Portuguese said: “Could be. It’s possible.
“I think the Premier League, the level of the teams is very similar the top ones. But you know the Premier League, you never know what’s going to happen.
“It’s a very difficult league, very tough league, but Manchester are not going to win the league that’s for sure. They are so many points behind right now. It’s possible yes bit I don’t believe it [that Man City can win the league].
“Arsenal, yeah it can be. It’s possible, lets see. Yes, Arsenal can win the league it’s possible.”
Arsenal were in action on Tuesday as they defeated Slavia Prague 3-0 in the Champions League at the Fortuna Arena.
In the absence of the injured Viktor Gyokeres, Mikel Merino stepped up to lead the attack and scored two goals to help his side to a comfortable victory.
The result means the Gunners have extended their winning run to 10 matches in all competitions, keeping an eighth consecutive clean sheet.
The North Londoners now face an away fixture at Sunderland, who played out a 1-1 draw with Everton last weekend.
The Black Cats have exceeded expectations this campaign after earning promotion from the Championship.
They are currently sitting fourth in the table, winning five and drawing three to register 18 points.
