Former Newcastle United midfielder Stobbs joins Durham | OneFootball

Durham have completed the signing of former Newcastle United midfielder Amber Stobbs on a free transfer.

The Wildcats announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

The 32-year-old joins Durham after former club Newcastle United opted against extending her deal. Stobbs spent two years on Tyneside in which she made 45 appearances for The Magpies and scored two goals. The player has almost a decade of experience playing in the top two tiers of English football.

After joining Durham, Stobbs said “It’s really exciting to be here – you can probably tell by the smile on my face.

“Durham are a powerhouse in the league, a very competitive team for years, and I’m really excited to be here.

“I think it suits. I was chatting to the club and the style of play and the bit that Durham have got about them, it suits me.

“Durham has had a great thing going with the fans for years and I think you can see that.

“I don’t think any team will come here and enjoy it as much as us playing here. I’m excited to have the fans behind me, be part of the team and I think it’s going to be a fun and exciting year.”

Stobbs is Durham’s second signing of the summer transfer window.
