At the start of next month, Robert Lewandowski will officially no longer be a Barcelona, with his contract expiring on the 30th June. The 37-year-old, who racked up 120 goals in four seasons in Catalonia, will join MLS side Chicago Fire this summer, but while it was necessary for him to depart the Spotify Camp Nou, he will always be fondly remembered there.
Lewandowski played a key role in a young Barcelona dressing room, especially when Hansi Flick took over as manager. He established a good relationship with the younger players, and one of those he got on well with was Pau Victor.
Victor, who spent the 2024-25 season in the Barcelona first team before being sold to Braga last summer, opened up (via Sport) on working with Lewandowski, as he revealed that they were paired together early on by Flick.
“Flick gave me a lot of advice, but I think the best thing he did was practically beg Robert Lewandowski to be a bit of a father figure, so to speak, in training, and Robert was very aware of me. He gave me a lot of advice on anything. Inside the box, for me he is the best player I have played with and to be there with him and that he gave me so much advice on how to define my game, how to position yourself, how to watch the centre-back to do other things… I learned a lot from him and I am very grateful.”

Victor was also asked to pick his ideal Barcelona striker signing for this summer, as the Catalans keep working on signing a Lewandowski replacement.
“I have a very big weakness with Harry Kane, I’ve loved him for many years. He’s a striker I look up to a lot and from whom I learn a lot of things. I think he’s an incredible striker. For me he would be a very good option. If not, Julián Álvarez, obviously, for everything he is – he is young too.”
